Ever since elastic was used as the materials for braces, people have been snapping the brace straps. It could be yourself or others that snap your straps. This is a fun fashion accessory to play with. Elastic braces provide elasticity to support your pants, but also give someone an easy opportunity to snap your straps
But snapping your straps should not
deter you from wearing them braces. It’s part of the territory of wearing
them.
Elastic suspenders and braces provide flexibility to adjust to your body's movement. While they do give someone an easy opportunity to inflict pain, the person pulling the straps always has a smile on their face!
One could wear non-stretch brace, such as braid, leather, or cloth, but these apply more pressure to your shoulders when you bend down or rotate to the side. This places more tension on the buttons.
Brace straps are frequently used for hanging on - for example, in piggy back rides.
Or similarly, this man’s braces are likely being used to anchor his sons' ride.
As I mentioned, some people snap their own braces.
So go ahead snap your braces. And if someone else does it for you, treat it as a pat on the back!
Maybe you just like to hook your thumbs behind your braces. This is very comfortable!
Or even your whole arm!
One things for sure, they make for a good hand-hold for kissing.
From personal experience wearing braces with elastic straps for over 20 years, I have been pleasantly surprised that people do not snap my straps more often. I’ve been to family gatherings, dinner with friends, casual get-togethers at home or a friends house, or out and about. My braces are on display and could be snapped, but people respect my straps and let them do their job – to support my pants.
There is that odd time, though that people like to snap them. My wife or girlfriend love to play with my straps by running their fingers up and down or tugging on them.
I was also at the grocery store a month ago wearing pants with stripped, elastic braces. I was waiting in line to pay, with my body turned away. The lady behind me came up and said, "I love your suspenders."
"Thank you," I replied. "They are so comfortable and stylish," as I put my hands in my pockets.
"And you can snap them," she said, as she pulled back the nearest strap and let it go before I could say anything. "Sorry," she said, "I should have asked first. It's not every day that you see someone wearing suspenders. I've been trying to convince my boyfriend to wear them, but he's says there not for him."
"Well, if you snap them, he's probably not interested in wearing them," I replied.
"Yeah, I realize that," she said.
The store clerk started processing my items, and I paid.
"Have a nice day," I said, as I left the store.
"You too," she said smiling. "Please do keep wearing suspenders."
"I will," I said. "Glad I could make your day snappy!"
She laughed.
